Frequently Asked Questions
  • Where can I cowork?

Coworking is available in several spaces within the Eric J. Barron Innovation Hub and Happy Valley LaunchBox.

On the first floor of the Innovation Hub, you’ll find multiple coworking areas to your left when you enter, including the ground floor seating, the landing, and the mezzanine areas.

Inside Happy Valley LaunchBox, on the second floor, there are three distinct coworking spaces. The great room is a large seating area and located immediately to the right when you enter. Beyond that, the lounge offers a comfortable soft-seating area. For a more private space, the team room is located behind the bookshelf divider next to the lounge. A kitchenette is also available for coworking, breaks, and casual conversations.

These spaces provide a flexible and collaborative environment for working on your business.

  • Are conference rooms available?

There are two conference rooms on the LaunchBox floor, Room 206 and Room 208.

Room 206 is to the left of the elevators and comfortably seats 2-3 individuals. There is no technology built into Room 206, but the room does come equipped with a sizable wall-mounted whiteboard.

Room 208 is to the right of the elevators, located just off the LaunchBox kitchenette. The room seats 4-6 individuals and is a “Zoom Room” which allows for users to easily make calls with remote individuals or share screen content with guests in the room. Room 208 also has a small wall-mounted whiteboard.

Due to the fact that we only have two conference rooms, but many coworkers, we ask that guests use their discretion and use conference rooms only when in need of taking private calls or meetings and for no longer than 2 consecutive hours.

  • How do I book a conference room? Are reservations necessary?

Conference room reservations are not required but are encouraged if you need a private space for a meeting. Both rooms can be reserved in the following ways:

If you have a Penn State Outlook account, simply create a new meeting and in the “Location” field, search for “Barron Innovation Hub 208” or “Barron Innovation Hub 206 – Hoteling Office”.

If you do not have a Penn State Outlook account, please email Jason Huber at juh436@psu.edu ahead of time for assistance in booking a room.

  • Do you have cubicles available for coworkers?

We have four cubicles, labeled Cubicle 1, Cubicle 2, Cubicle 3, and Cubicle 4, available for daily reservation. These spaces are designed for coworkers who need a quiet spot to work for the entire day. Each cubicle is equipped with at least one monitor and a docking station. To reserve a cubicle, please email Jason Huber at juh436@psu.edu. Reservations can be made in advance or on the same day, depending on availability.

  • Where is the Content Creator Studio located?

A Content Creator Studio has equipment that allows for podcasting, photography, and video production.

The Content Creator Studio is in Office 209A within the LaunchBox suite. To find it, enter the main entrance of the LaunchBox, take a left at the first cubicle, walk to the end of the row, and turn left again. Office 209A is the last office on the right. Alternatively, you can enter through the LaunchBox kitchenette, where 209A will be the first office on your left

  • How do I reserve the Content Creator Studio space?

Reservations can be made in advance or on the same day by emailing Jason Huber at juh436@psu.edu.

  • Is coffee available at the LaunchBox?

Yes! Our coffee is generously sponsored by Sheetz and is available for free while you work. If no coffee is made and you’re unsure how to brew a pot, instructions can be found on the cabinet above the coffee machine.

  • Can I eat at the LaunchBox?

Yes, you are welcome to eat in the coworking space, conference rooms, or kitchenette. We ask that you clean up after yourself to keep the space tidy. Plates, bowls, forks, knives, spoons, and mugs are available for use during the day. Please be sure to leave them at LaunchBox when you’re done. A refrigerator is available for storing your lunch or snacks during the day. Please only eat the food you bring.
